Stand out as a professional on Linkedin

Standing out

Make your profile unforgettable, even if you’re just getting started.

LinkedIn is more than a digital resume — it’s your personal brand. It is you

If you’re just starting out in your career, LinkedIn might feel a bit to mutch. Everyone seems to have years of experience, job titles you’re still figuring out or a perfectly curated profile.

But here’s the good news: you don’t need a 10-year career to make a strong impression. What you do need is clarity, authenticity, and the courage to show up as you are — hungry, driven, and full of potential.

Make it work for you

A headline that speaks

Most people list their job title — and that’s it. But you’re not most people.

If you could instead, think of your headline as your mini pitch. What do you do? Who do you help?

Examples:

  • “Marketing Graduate | Helping brands grow through social media strategy”
  • “Junior UX Designer | Passionate about creating beautiful, user-friendly apps”
  • “Business Student | Future leader in digital entrepreneurship”

Be clear, be confident, and don’t be afraid to own your ambition.

Use your summary to tell your story

Your summary (the “About” section) is where you get to be you. No buzzwords, no stiff bios. Just a short, strong narrative that shows who you are and what you’re working toward.

Try this structure:

  1. Where you are now
  2. What you’re passionate about
  3. What you’re looking for or open to

End with a call-to-action, like “Feel free to connect!”

Show your value

Don’t just list what you did in each job or internship. Highlight results.

ave much experience, your impact still counts. Think: What changed because you were there?

Make your profile with media

LinkedIn lets you add media — so use it! Upload PDFs of presentations, videos you created, Canva portfolios, or blog links. This instantly makes your profile feel dynamic and real.

And don’t forget: a clean, friendly profile photo and a branded banner image can make a huge difference. (Canva has great free templates for that.)

Be active

You don’t need to be a CEO to post on LinkedIn.

  • Share lessons you’ve learned
  • Comment on articles you find inspiring
  • Reflect on your internship experience
  • Celebrate small wins

Showing up consistently makes you memorable. Plus, it helps people see your journey — and that’s powerful.

Show up

LinkedIn isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not. It’s about showing the world who you already are — a young professional with passion, drive, and something to say.

So go ahead. Polish that profile. Write that post. Connect with people who inspire you. You’re building your future, one click at a time.
